Dental Implants and Bone Grafting
Stony Brook Oral and Facial Surgery

Dental implants have proven to be a predictable solution in areas of tooth loss. If planned and placed correctly, their success rates can be over 95%. Proper planning and placement is a careful collaboration between the general dentist (or prosthodontist) and oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The in-office 3D scan will provide detailed information regarding the availability of bone quantity and quality necessary for proper placement. If there is not enough bone available for implant placement, a bone grafting procedure may be indicated. Bone grafts may be from a variety of sources depending on the type of bone needed, personal preference of the individual patient, and recommendation of the surgeon.
