Dr. Michael Proothi grew up in Allentown, PA and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at The George Washington University, in Washington D.C. He completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the prestigious Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, in Boston, MA, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Proothi then continued his studies and obtained his Medical Degree at Stony Brook University School of Medicine where he also underwent his General Surgery training. He was the first oral and maxillofacial surgery resident to be granted the intern of the year award at this institution. His 6 year surgical residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery was completed at Stony Brook University and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Throughout his training and in private practice, Dr. Proothi has authored and co-authored articles and chapters in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. For the past 7 years, Dr. Proothi has taken his distinguished academic background and love for taking care of patients into private practice. His charismatic personality and rigorous work ethic has allowed him to work both as a clinical assistant professor at Stony Brook University, as well as a private practice surgeon. Dr. Proothi continues to use the most current and minimally invasive surgical techniques when it comes to taking care of his patients. When he is not in the office, at the hospital, giving a lecture, or learning at a conference, Dr. Proothi enjoys spending all of his time with his two children, Benjamin and Jackson. Together, they can be found at a tennis court or skiing a new mountain.
